Hotel Review: The St Regis Bangkok

The St Regis, Bangkok : – a review by Luxury Travel Publisher

Our review of The St Regis Bangkok. It’s no shock to us that The St Regis, Bangkok is rumoured as a 6 star hotel.
The St Regis Bangkok differentiate themselves from the other 100 or so Bangkok hotels which are listed, advertised or associated as holding the title of a 5 star, by providing exceptional attention to it’s guests requirements through personalisation services and service quality.

Some hotels are known for the décor, the rooms, the view, some for their restaurants, the service level, others for the spa, facilities or amenities. Some even, are known for their event space, or business facilities.

Quite simply however, what St Regis Bangkok has managed to do is confine all of the best of these and place them in an the superb location of Rajadamri, downtown Bangkok. Further to this, they’ve managed to even supply a sensational view of the Royal Sports Club of Bangkok, and the surrounding metropolis..

St Regis Bangkok is a breath of fresh air to the classic; elegant yet dated hotels of its class. It provides class with modern style, and promises youth yet instills tradition. It sets standards instead of following them, and by doing so they have uniquely created a new hotel culture combining recognized traditions with modern aesthetics and culture.

It’s no wonder why this has led them to be rumored as Bangkok’s only 6 star hotel!

Location:
With views of both the bustling city, and of the prestigious Royal Bangkok Sports Club Horse Racing Track, St Regis Bangkok is absolutely ideal.

Aside from astonishing views, St Regis Bangkok is also highly convenient. Located minutes away from large and high end shopping centers, as well as the business districts, various nightlife areas, and great food places, St Regis Bangkok is also connected directly to the BTS (elevated rail) line.
Taxi’s are also very cheap and are highly available. St Regis Bangkok is a set in superb location.

Rooms:
The hotel boasts 228 rooms, including 51 suites & penthouse; all exquisitely styled, and lavishly appointed. Floor to ceiling windows offer superb, uninterrupted views.

Notably, all rooms at St Regis Bangkok offer the legendary St Regis Butler service. A 24 hour personal butler on call – no request is too small or unattainable to fulfill at any hour. With over 100 years of experience and innovation, St Regis Butler service is without doubt one of the finest butler services that I have experienced. Professional, diligent, attentive and efficient.

We spent 2 nights/3 days at the Caroline Astor suite. A suite decadently and stylishly adorned within 115sqm featuring sensational views of the horse racing track, parks, sports club and city skyline.
The corner suite really is a highly recommended upgrade, and the layout, design and appointment redefine modern class, with classic touches that reiterate elegance and sophistication.

My favorite part aside from the corner views, is the free standing bath tub which also is set in front of the floor to ceiling windows. A perfect setting at any time of day or night. The personal butler service also takes care of packing/unpacking of luggage, running your bath before you arrive back to the room, arranging the evening turndown service, and any other request you may have.

The suite features a large living area, which comes complete with a lounge/TV area, dining area, work desk and separate toilet/powder room.
The living area is very well appointed, plush and comfortable and again offers the same great views of sprawling Bangkok.

Service:
This is a large part of what makes St Regis Bangkok so remarkable.
Service levels are impeccably high due to St Regis’s testament to care and detail. The 100+ years of St Regis experience is easy to recognize and it’s quite obvious that they’ve managed to perfect this through attentiveness, professionalism, dedication and genuine care for their guests.

During my stay, I found there to be an ample staff/guest ratio, which staff often greeting you by name as you pass. There always seems to be staff on hand should you need, and they tend to operate with great efficiency.
Personalization service is highly maintained, notable from the moment you check in to your room/suite. Welcome gifts and a selection of treats, to custom notes at turndown, and recognition from staff members, St Regis Bangkok really do go out of their way to make you feel special.

Food & Beverage:
Choices for F&B at St Regis Bangkok are thankfully well appointed through its following establishments:

Jojo:
A fine dining Italian establishment which combines traditional yet refined authentic Italian cuisine, with a modern contemporary environment.
The food is prepared to the highest quality and impeccable detail. Presentation and is also highly regarded, and the 5 course degustation with wine pairing is highly recommended.

Jojo is popular for both hotel guests and outsiders, so it’s suggested to book to avoid disappointment.

Lunch options are more rustic with a Trattoria based theme, and some great refined classics including both pasta and pizza options too.
Viu:
Located on the 12th floor next to the Sky Lobby, VIU boats captivating views of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. Home to where the St Regis Bangkok breakfast is held, you can also fine here for lunch and dinner.

Breakfast:
From the special Astor Champagne breakfast with offerings such as Moët Chandon, Banana Mascarpone French Toast and freshly squeezed fruit smoothies; to the St. Regis breakfast menu with selections from eggs cooked to order and house made breads and jams, to Asian-style offerings, including sashimi and sushi and wok-fried egg noodles. The Continental breakfast, including espresso drinks, fresh fruits, yogurts, exquisite pastries and breakfast basics, including bacon and scrambled eggs is also on offer.
Breakfast certainly offers a large selection to suit all tastes.

Lunch & Dinner:
Lunch offers an interactive dining concept with eight live stations. From healthy salads, cold cuts and freshly baked breads, to a daily selection of Western and Thai specials, accompanied by a fresh selection of pasta, and mouth watering choice of desserts. A a la carte menu is also available at lunch & dinner and also hosts many international and local options. Signature dishes are highly recommended, and the food is very well presented.

A menu of tapas and other selections is also available at Decanter.

St Regis Bar:
Linger over classic cocktails as you enjoy live music with a backdrop of the setting sun in The St. Regis Bar, located on the hotel’s 12th floor. The bar offers an elegant and refined ambiance with high ceilings, polished wood floors.
The St. Regis Bar honors the hotel’s rich lineage by serving renowned drinks such as the Bloody Mary, first created at the St. Regis New York in 1934. Here, it takes on distinctly Bangkok twist as the bar’s signature drink, the Siam Mary.
The views over the Royal Bangkok Sports Club make a perfect setting anytime of day. Further to this, this is out outside terrace carrying the same splendid views.

The Lounge:
A refined, intimate setting on the ground floor of The St. Regis Bangkok, The Lounge is Bangkok’s social retreat for the city’s cultured society.

Perfect for any occasion, from social lunches to informal yet discreet business meetings or an evening drink, The Lounge introduces a premium coffee and tea collection.

The Drawing Room:
The Drawing Room provides a haven of refined luxury in which to enjoy the enduring tradition of Afternoon Tea as well as the ideal venue for a relaxing business meeting. An elegant meeting place for Afternoon Tea, the Drawing Room serves an enticing selection of premier coffees and teas complemented by beautifully presented finger sandwiches, delicious pastries and cakes
The afternoon tea is highly recommended, and is available as a Thai or Western set.

Activities:
St Regis Bangkok is a hotel that packs a lot in within it’s walls. Aside from the food & beverage destinations, the hotel features a beautiful swimming pool with views overlooking the city. Here you can find plenty of sunbeds, sofas and tables to spend the days relaxing, or working by the pool. A sunset cocktail pool side, is high recommended!
In addition to the pool, St Regis Bangkok has a 24 hour gym and fitness center with the latest equipment. Friendly staff on hand 24 hours a day to guide or assist in any way.

Spa:

St Regis Bangkok is home to ELEMIS spa. Perhaps one of the most renowned and reputed spa brand, from the UK.
There is an absolute collection of treatments available from facials, massage treatments, aromatherapy, waxing, to manicure and pedicure’s, wraps, exfoliation scrubs and even Arabian bathing ritual.

Aside from the 16 treatment areas, there are 2 relaxation areas (for men and women) this certainly must not be missed. The relaxation center features steam rooms, a rasul chambers, modern full body showers, hot water jaccuzi, cold water plunge pools, a foot wading pool, and suspended relaxation pods. Make sure you spend a good hour here at least before or after your treatment. A perfect chance to start or end your day, and you’ll come out feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

The treatments are very highly commended. With ELEMIS premium products, and very attentive and precision care from the therapist, ELEMIS spa does not disappoint in any way. The therapist was extremely detailed and attentive to provide a rewarding treatment, and the skill and experience of the therapist was second to none. The staff provide a comprehensive explanation of treatments, and the ambiance of the treatment room and spa reception are very well appointed.

If you’re staying at St Regis Bangkok or not, you must definitely try ELEMIS spa for an unforgettable experience.
