Due to Intercontinental Koh Samui’s position, the vast panoramic views are just endless. This place really is just breathtaking. There are no obstructions in the open air lobby, restaurant and Air Bar, which is famous for it’s sunset!

The Rooms:
During our stay at Intercontinental Koh Samui, we stayed at the Premier Ocean View Room, located on the top level of the terraces. It has a 8m high ceiling, making the room feel very spacious and very light. Classically designed with dark teak flooring and white was and ceiling, the room is airy and very light.

The wooden panelled shutter doors to the balcony open up to revel a stunning 180 degree view of the gulf, the swimming pool below.
The balcony features a table and chairs, as well as a large day per – perfect for relaxing or watching the incredible sunset.

Inside the room, the King Bed is opulently covered with Egyptian cotton sheets, and large soft pillows make for a comfortable sleep.
The room also has a large screen TV, separate sofa and coffee table, and a work desk next to the tea/coffee station. Another added bonus is the TWG tea box! Intercontinental Koh Samui also provides a complimentary sarong, silk scarf, beach bag and teddy bear. Nice touches indeed.

Directly behind the bed, the large windows with white wooden panelled shutters allow a view in or out of the bathroom. The shutters can be closed for privacy, and add great amounts character to the room and design.
Inside the bathroom, you’ll find a separate toilet room, his and her’s vanity’s, a large free standing bathtub, and an open rain shower.
The shower is fantastic; without the need of a glass cubicle or shower curtains – very impressed!
Another thing I enjoyed here at Intercontinental Koh Samui is their selection of bathroom amenities.
Made by Thai luxury brand, Harnn, they are made from Thai herbs and natural products which leave you hair and skin smelling and feeling fantastic.
The rooms, although not the most modern, and classically and timelessly designed and have certainly been very well maintained. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and are opulently finished.
My favourite part of the room is the high ceiling – make sure you book a top floor room for this!

Restaurant:
Intercontinental Koh Samui boasts 2 restaurants. Flames, which is located down at the beach level near the pool, and Amber which serves breakfast, as well and lunch and dinner.
Although I didn’t experience Flames, Amber has both lunch and dinner menu’s which both have a large selection of Thai and western cuisine to satisfy all tastes.

Note also that Air Bar serves a selection of bar food too; great if you’re here for the sunset!
Every Monday they have a Teppanyaki dinner at Air Bar at 7pm, and the selection is divine!

Facilities:
What I very much enjoyed at Intercontinental Koh Samui is their large range of activities and facilities for guests. For those visiting with accompanying children, there is a children’s play area near the main pool at the beach, and also a separate kids club.

As you arrive at the main pool and beach area, you’ll find dedicated staff that will find seating or loungers for you, as well as Flames restaurant, and Ice Cream stand, and a beach activities centre.
Here, and this is my favourite part, if your chance to participate in all kinds of water sports.
Hobie-Cat – a small catamaran was very fund and entertaining. I had no idea how to sail; and fortunately Intercontinental Koh Samui has staff on hand to take you out, and show you the ropes.
Further to this, there are Jet Ski’s, Kayaks, Paddle Boards, Surf Boards, Snorkelling Gear, Banana Boat, Sofa Boat, and more. I was very very impressed by the selection of water sport activities they have to offer and highly recommend them too!
Other facilities noted in Intercontinental Koh Samui include a gym/fitness area, meeting rooms, and 7 swimming pools! Mostly however, the 2 main pools are the ones which get used. The large pool down at the beachside has an array of sun loungers and day beds to choose from, as well as the ice cream shack, Flames restaurant and water sports activities, this is a place where you can spend most of your day.

The other pool, which is my favourite is the infinity pool just down from the lobby.
This, hands down has the most magnificent view of any pool I have ever had to pleasure of swimming in. There is also a large jacuzzi which is has a traditional thai style sala covering it; so it’s open plan with spectacular views, and has a roof top cover to protect you from the sun. Paradise!

Spa:

Intercontiental Koh Samui features Baan Thai Spa by Harnn.
They have a large variety of treatments available, and all products are made by Harnn. Natural and herbal ingredients which work wonders.
The spa is traditionally Thai in design, and oozes character. It is my vision of what a Thai spa should be. It’s staff are meticulously dressed in tradition Thai dress, and the spa is decadently furnished.

Upon arrival to the spa at Intercontinental Koh Samui, you will be greeted and offered a refreshing towel and welcome herbal drink. Staff will explain the choice of treatments and suggest recommendations.
Upon choosing the treatment, one is then asked to complete a quick questionnaire – just so they can attend to any areas of specific need, or help understand any aliments that may need work on.

Shortly, you’ll be lead through the establishment, to the treatment room. The room reminds me of a tradition thai house; extensive use of teak and other Thai trinkets.
The room features a large round bathtub, and day bed for relaxation.
On the the treatment; 1.5 hours of Samui Aromatic Massage. The masseuse was very well trained and this was evident in her work. She worked away on areas such as my lower back and neck, and relieved stress and aches effortlessly. The masseuse was very polite and ensured I was comfortable during the treatment. In fact it was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep.

The spa is so renowned, that it has received awards from the Luxury Spa Association; and I can understand why. I highly recommend a treatment here; it will not dissapoint.
