Mandarin Oriental Macau – a review by Luxury Travel Publisher.
Our review of Mandarin Oriental Macau: a luxury, 5 star hotel located very close to Macau’s old town district. A rather modern hotel, that appoints great design and finish, as expected across Mandarin Oriental hotels.
Mandarin Oriental Macau has a selection of room types with both views of the nearby lake, and also the surrounding town.
Although Mandarin Oriental Macau does not operate it’s own casino, it is directly next door to MGM Casino and Central shopping district.
Mandarin Oriental’s iconic service is 5 star as you would find across all it’s properties. From personalization service touches, to a highly competent concierge, Mandarin Oriental Macau sets a standard as one of the top properties in Macau.
The hotel features a large spa facility and it’s services hold a high reputation. There is also a rooftop pool which makes a great place to relax during the day.
During our stay at Mandarin Oriental Macau, we stayed in a deluxe lake view room. The room is appointed with a plus King Bed, and also has a work desk and large bathroom complete with full size bath tub.
The beds are very comfortable and pillow menu is available for guests’ preference.
The rooms are decorated in Mandarin Oriental’s classic yet modern touch approach and all rooms are appointed with class and quality.
The view from the lake view room is pleasant and makes for a nice atmosphere, away from the bustling casinos in Cotai.
Food & Beverage:
Breakfast is hosted in the hotel’s resturant and offers a large selection buffet, with choices of local asian and continental menu items.
From the egg station, to fresh pastries, yoghurts, and freshly squeezed juices, there is also a selection of noodles and other hot plate choices to suit every taste.
Mandarin Oriental Macau is also graciously appointed with the iconic cake shop, feauturing the macarons, and other delicious cakes that Mandarin Oriental is famous for. The cake shop is located on the ground floor, near the reception area.
Mandarin Oriental Macau is located towards Macau’s old town, only a few km’s away from well known tourst hot spots, and historical sights such as St Michaels ruins, and Sentando square.
The hotel is located approximately 30 mins from the airport, or a brief 10 mins from the ferry terminal. Mandarin Oriental Macau offers free transfers from the ferry terminal to all it’s guests, make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
For those seeking the thrill of the casinos, Cotai is the location where most casinos are located. Cotai is a brief 20 minute taxi ride away, and you can quickly find yourself in the grounds of Macau’s largest and most luxurious casinos. For those who wish to stay closer to home, MGM Casino is directly next door, and many other’s in walking distance such as Wynn Casino.
Value for money:
Mandarin Oriental Macau makes for a great choice; a hotel that is situated close enough to the casinos and old town, but far enough away to enjoy your private time at the hotel without the hustle and pace of the casinos.
Mandarin Oriental is a gem and highly reputed as one of Macau’s finest hotels.
Given the attention to guests requirements, as well as service levels and facilities, I’d rate Mandarin Oriental Macau as good value for money.
